Badass Misty Knight

Recently, I read a comic about what I thought would be the best tie in for the Marvel universe to include an Afro American character. The woman is named Misty Knight and for the life of me I cannot understand why she isn’t in more episodes. Her story stems from a risky job, which was being a New York City Bomb Detective; to a grueling life juggling love and super-abilities. Her character is both strong and beautiful, which is why I needed to give her a little coverage.Mistyknight0.png Her story immediately takes a sharp turn when her arm is blown off due to a terrorist bomb and she’s forced to leave her job, and her once normal life. Misty is then left in the care of Charles Xavier where she rooms with Jean Grey and receives a Cybernetic arm courtesy of Iron Man.

arms.pngMisty fights to the death in battles and is so fierce that she has even beaten Sabertooth! She fought and had a draw with Ironfist, which resulted in them seeing each other in a different light. The two started dating. Their relationship was rocky at best, which led to her on-again-off-again relationship with Powerman aka Luke Cage. Luke Cage is being picked up by Netflix right now and will begin running shortly……so go catch it! Hahaha I couldn’t resist.

If you’re into comic books, Marvel, or sexy women comic figures dressed in scantily clad suits, like Misty, then you should check out WorldofBlackHeroes or  BlackGirlNerds for more of her story.

I was so moved by this character that I decided to make a little video on her life story. I am placing it on Youtube so that maybe more will learn something and gain strength in themselves. With that being said…..heres a link to the video.   Afro Girls Need Love Tooooo Thanx!

Black Friday…Or Bust!

Stores are slashing prices all around the United States in preparation for Black Friday. I plan on shopping locally, though, in support of the small businesses and mom and pop stores. Too many times have corporations beaten down local cafes, clothing stores, and arts and crafts shops in marketing monopolies. These greedy scoundrels rent the biggest store fronts in the highest traffic locations to reel in their sales.

Franchises are set up nationwide in an effort to get the most money possible. And the major problem with companies like Walmart and Target is that they shut out their small time rivals. Quaint shops are in peril when compared to big franchise companies, especially during the holiday season. They are in jeopardy of staggering sales during this time, and low customer outcome. Which is why I plan on buying locally this Black Friday.

I love the refreshing feeling of having a unique item that was either handmade or made custom for me. It brings back the sentiment of being filled with the holiday spirit. Everyone of my friends enjoy the hand picked gifts I buy special for them, because it shows genuine feeling. Even big gifts like TVs and video games can be bought locally. It just takes a little bit of searching.

So how about planning early this holiday season and shopping in the neighborhood? Walk around town and keep your eyes open for small shops. Let’s help keep the small businesses running because they have sales, too.

This year I’m heading to a store in Downtown Brooklyn called Nicholas. nicThey specialize in natural products and handmade goods. Every time I walk into this store I am greeted so warmly, and it makes me feel like home. My favorite buys here are the Dragon Fruit Incense Sticks, handmade candles, black soap, and bracelets of all sorts. I recently purchased a leather bracelet that had a scorpion melted into some glass on it. scorpionThis store also sells books, clothes, and other artsy things. If you are in Brooklyn, head down there or otherwise visit this link Shop Nicholas

But wherever you live, remember to shop locally.

Happy shopping, everyone!
